ABOUT JOHN MAGOWAN

John Magowan is a landscape artist who was born near Buffalo, NY and is a long time resident of southern New England. Drawing from a lifelong passion for the beauty of local landscapes, John’s art aims to showcase both natural and man-made scenes.

John is a self-taught watercolor artist who describes himself as a realist and uses a combination of drawing, painting, scribbling, stippling and spattering with both pens and brushes to make his work come to life.

John worked as an aerospace engineer for 40 years and retired in 2016. In his retirement John is able to focus on his art full time, as well as tend to his garden which is another long time passion of his. He also enjoys spending time with his son, daughter, and grandson in his hometown of Longmeadow, MA.
